The Burgaw Depot is the oldest railroad depot in North Carolina, declared by the North Carolina Division of Archives and History in 1986. The structure was examined by state officials in conjunction with its nomination to the National Register of Historic Places by the Burgaw Jaycees, a local civic group. It has been said that "Burgaw's heart beat first at the depot" because it predated the incorporation of the town nearly 30 years.
For the past 17 years, the award-winning NC Blueberry Festival has been one of the most widely attended festivals in our state. The festival attracts thousands of visitors annually to showcase the southeast region and celebrate blueberries grown in Bladen, Duplin, New Hanover, Pender and Sampson counties.
The Osgood Canal Greenway and Urban Trail is a 2.2 mile loop around the central portion of the town limits. The trail follows the Osgood Canal through town and offers walks through wooded areas along the canal. through urban areas in the downtown, connects to the schools located in town and offers the convenience of both passive parks and playground parks along the way. There are several streets and areas throughout town that access the trail.

The main Pender County library is located in Burgaw, NC at 103 S. Cowan St and is open Mon, Wed, & Fri: 10:00am-6:00pm and Sat 10:00am-2:00pm. The Carolina Heritage Collection Library Annex is open Thru-Friday 10:00am-5:00pm and Sat 10:00am-2:00pm. The Annex is located at 108 S. Cowan St.
The Pender County Museum is housed in the first brick house ever built in Burgaw (circa 1917) known as the Burton-Noel House. In 1979, the house was donated to the Pender County Historical society in memory of Kate Buck Noel by her daughters. The Historical Society restored the house and dedicated the new museum in 1982. Step inside and step back into the past among numerous displays of artifacts associated with the town's history.

The Pender County Courthouse is the "Heart" of downtown Burgaw. Nestled among an inviting canopy of oak trees is a very attractive three-story building which was built in 1935. The current building replaces the original courthouse built in 1885. The vast grounds surrounding the courthouse have served as a home for many festivals, weddings and movie backgrounds and as a quiet place to take a stroll and enjoy the outdoors.
The Burgaw Historic District was entered in the National Register of Historic Places in August of 1999. The National Register is a list of properties significant in American History, architecture, archaeology, and culture. Properties listed therein deserve to be preserved by their owners as a part of their cultural heritage of our nation.
